Josh Freese recorded all of the drum tracks for the songs on the ‘Fallen’ album back in August - December 2002 before the album came out. He was a session player since Evanescence had Amy Lee, Ben Moody, and David Hodges as the main band members during the time of when they recorded the album: ‘Fallen.’ Rocky Grey officially joined the band in December 2002 or January 2003 and he played the drums throughout the live shows 2003 - 2005. In September 2005 to March of 2006 he recorded all the drum tracks for: ‘The Open Door’ album that was going to be released in late-September 2006. but in May of 2007, He left the band because John LeCompt (the Rhythm Guitarist of the band at the time) was asked by Amy Lee to leave. In mid May 2007 he was replaced by Will Hunt who is the drummer of Evanescence to this day.
